IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the purpose of the campaign?

The Imagine the Possibilities, Invest in our Future Campaign is a comprehensive campaign designed to enhance our synagogue for today’s needs and tomorrow’s growth with an investment in our people, our programs, and our facilities. TST’s last capital campaign was in 2008. With years of deferred maintenance of our facility coupled with the current growth we are experiencing, now is the time to solidify our building and expand our team to realize our vision as a leader in MetroWest and nationally among suburban synagogues.

How will the funds be used in the Imagine the Possibilities, Invest in our Future Campaign?

The majority of the funds, 75%+, will elevate our physical spaces by enhancing our worship and spiritual experiences, improving our technology, modernizing our kitchen, upgrading our Early Learning Center, revamping indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, including a new outdoor permanent structure for worship, as well as repairing, maintaining, and beautifying spaces throughout the building.

20% of dollars raised will be allocated to a significant investment in our professional staff, securing five new positions for the next three years, to build our infrastructure and contribute to our vision. The remaining 5% is allocated to support the campaign expenses, including campaign counsel, design, printing, and other administrative expenses.

What about other opportunities, like retiring the debt on the mortgage or endowing staff positions; why are they not included in this campaign?

Campaign leadership, in consultation with the clergy and our board of directors, considered multiple focus areas for this campaign. After conducting a feasibility study and examining budget, capital and programming needs, leadership identified the goals of this campaign that best align with our vision and current priorities.  Leadership will continue to assess TST needs and align them with campaign dollars.

I have seen upgrades already in the building, is this part of the campaign?

Yes! With the generous support of early campaign donors, have completed several priorities among our capital improvements, including installed new sanctuary roof, beautified the indoor gathering space, renovated the ELC, and painted and carpeted the religious school classrooms. In addition, we have invested in several new positions, including hiring a new Director of Community Engagement and Communications and Events Associate. A full list of our campaign priorities can be found on our website.

The majority of funds have been raised already, do you really need my donation?

We are incredibly grateful to our early campaign donors who have played a major role in supporting TST over the years and have shown their leadership again through their generosity for this campaign.  In a position of strength, we now turn to our wider TST community for your essential support to ensure we have the resources necessary to carry out our vision. Funds are still needed for key projects, such as: completing the outdoor classroom in the ELC, renovating the kitchen, revitalizing the sanctuary and completing the outdoor space for worship.

If I am not a major donor, how can I contribute to the campaign in a meaningful way?

A cornerstone of this campaign is our Community Walkway – bricks that will be placed outside in the front of the building memorializing this moment in time with names of campaign donors. All donors who contribute $180 and above are invited to “buy a brick” and be included in this walkway.

What are my campaign donation options?

Campaign pledges can be paid over time, up to three years. Donations can be paid through cash gifts, donor advised funds, appreciated stock or securities. While this campaign is focused on current giving, legacy/planned giving is always welcomed and encouraged as a way to support TST’s long-term sustainability. Members who are interested in supporting our community in this  way are invited to talk with Rabbi Danny about joining our L’dor V’dor Society.

Are gifts tax deductible?

All donations to the campaign are tax-deductible unless prohibited by law. Please consult with your tax advisor for the best way for you to support the campaign.

How will this campaign affect our Annual Fund campaign at TST?

The Annual Fund supports our ongoing operating expenses and will continue alongside the Imagine the Possibilities campaign. This is vital to keep our doors open and our programs engaging our community. All TST members are invited and encouraged to contribute a meaningful gift to the Imagine the Possibilities, Invest  in our Future Campaign, in addition to their important annual contributions.

Who is managing the construction for this project? How is the work being done?

Dan Brosgol, our Executive Director, and Jackie Loren, our Board President are the lead managers of the project. We have formed a Capital Campaign Project Task Force with members of our community to oversee our timeline, budget, vendors, and capital priorities.
