We are excited to welcome Mike Wirth as our Artist-in-Residence over Sukkot from Friday, October 14th through Sunday, October 16th! Mike Wirth will guide us in a variety of hands-on activities like hunting for meaningful ritual artifacts from around the TST building and your own homes, photographing and sharing personal artifacts, creating collages, painting hamsas, and synthesizing all these artistic sacred objects into our own large-scale community “time tapestry” fabric mural.
Friday, October 14th @ 6:15 PM – For the whole family
Mike Wirth will share his Jewish Futurism artwork and explain his philosophy during the main services. After the service, Mike will detail the collaborative project he is leading with the TST community and lead participants in a guided creative meditation to generate ideas. We will also be hosting a Shabbat potluck dinner!
Saturday, October 15th @ 7:00-9:00 PM – For adults only
Artist Mike Wirth will lead adult participants through the hands on creation of the decorative borders of larger banner project. Bring with you either an Jewish object that has meaning to you or your family (e.g. menorah or Shabbat candlesticks, or seder plate) OR bring a photo of an object, or an ancestor or a meaningful place (or combine them… a photo of your family in Jerusalem). You will be working with these objects or photos to help Mike create the border for our banner.
Join us for BYOB cocktails, mocktails, and dessert. TST will supply wine and some basic mixers. Participants are invited to bring drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to share!
Sunday, October 16th @ 9:00-10:00 AM – For Hineini students only
Mike Wirth will lead Hineini students through a creative activity during school.
Sunday, October 16th @ 5:00 PM – For the whole family!
Join us for a Simchat Torah celebration including an activity with Mike Wirth, who will lead participants through the making of a personalized hamsas to take home!
