Discussion of Dr. Shiro’s Book
Wednesday, November 12, 7:00-8:00 PM on Zoom

To prepare for Dr. Edith Shiro’s visit, Rabbi Lisa Eiduson will be leading a book discussion about “The Unexpected Gift of Trauma: The Path to Posttraumatic Growth”. The objective is to become familiar with her book prior to Dr. Shiro’s visit to TST. You are encouraged to read the book, but it is not required for attending this program. You can get a copy of the book from a local bookstore, Kindle, eBook or library, or Amazon.

MHI Dinner: An introduction to “The Unexpected Gift of Trauma”
Friday, November 21, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM in Social Hall A
Following Friday night Shabbat services, Dr. Shiro will offer a presentation over dinner, delving deeper into the subject and providing an opportunity for us to reflect on the challenges and pain we have experienced and how we might find healing and growth.

Supporting ourselves and our families through difficult experiences: Parent Program with Dr. Shiro
Sunday, November 23, 9:15 AM-10:45 AM, in Social Hall A
As we recognize the difficult experiences in our own lives and in the lives of our children and families, we are faced with the challenge of how to avoid being consumed by them. Dr. Shiro’s work on posttraumatic growth will allow us to gain insights, strategies, and techniques to support ourselves and parent our children to ensure that we can grow from disruptive and painful realities.
