Teen Philanthropy

Our Metrowest Jewish Teen Philanthropy Program is a shared initiative between Temple Shir Tikva and Temple Israel of Natick, funded by CJP, to bring a year-long teen giving circle program to the Metrowest Community.

What is a Giving Circle?  In short, members of a giving circle meet over a period of time and together choose a non-profit organization to give tzedakah (charity) to.  Throughout their time together, members of the Giving Circle become true philanthropists. Over the year that our Giving Circle meets, we will learn all about the philanthropic process and different charitable organizations; explore and identify your Jewish values; and use our newfound knowledge to allocate money to the cause of our choosing!

Teen Philanthropy Program Details:

  • Our Teen Giving Circle will meet monthly on Sunday nights from 6:30pm-8:00pm, alternating between Temple Shir Tikva and TI of Natick.

  • Our Giving Circle will have a minimum of $2000 to allocate. Each member will be asked to contribute $36 of tzedakah (charity) towards the project. Members will also be asked to do a little fundraising on their own.

  • Members will learn about and then solicit grant requests from non-profit organizations, following the RFP (Request-For-Proposal) philanthropic process.
