Jenna Friedman

Temple Shir Tikva welcomes Jenna Friedman as our new Director of Youth Engagement. Jenna grew up in Westchester, New York. She attended Tufts University, majoring in English and minoring in Film Studies.

Jenna worked as a counselor at URJ's camp Eisner for 4 summers, and credits her deep passion for Judaism to her years as a camper at Eisner. She was President, and 4 time executive board member of Tufts University Friends of Israel, organizing campus wide events, and leading outreach to students. As Tufts Hillel Holidays co-chair, she designed and organized religious and cultural programming. She developed and taught a course for incoming college freshmen on the media of comics and film at Tufts University Experimental College. She designed youth-oriented tours and led art activities for the Museum of Fine Arts, and was a 7th and 8th grade English and Spanish tutor. She is also a slam poet and monologue author and performer, and a "retired" soft ball player.

Jenna will play an important role in our new shared partnership with the Metro-West Jewish Teens Initiative (JTI). JTI is a nationally recognized model for Jewish teen engagement, focused on building relationships across agencies, synagogues, camps, and day schools, to meet teens where they are and help to both strengthen their connections to the Jewish community and broaden the menu of opportunities available to them. Through JTI Jenna will coordinate and meet with a group of 16- 18 peer leadership fellows in our Metro-West area, including two of our own teens.
