Hineini Religious School

Imagine a religious school where your children will be known and loved.

Imagine your children exploring Jewish values first for themselves, then within communities in which they gather: their families, friends, neighborhoods, classrooms, Temple Shir Tikva community; and finally, in the world beyond those familiar communities. How can Judaism guide and inspire them to learn, question, and act?

Introducing Hineini, Kindergarten through 6th Grade Jewish learning at Temple Shir Tikva

Hineini
Here I am
I am here
I matter
Showing up matters
How we show up matters
Why we show up matters

Hineini means, “I am here” or “Here I am” and we see it as a statement of presence. Now, more than ever, we know the power of being present – together. We plan to continue our multi-access model with in-person learning and additional online, small group Hebrew learning in the 2023-24 school year.

Jewish Curriculum and Learning

Our curriculum is based on middot (character traits) that are deeply Jewish and also relevant to our lives today. Our learners and families have the opportunity to explore traits like patience, kindness, courage, humility, holiness, and enthusiasm as lenses through which we view our daily lives, Jewish holidays, and Jewish stories. Our program includes music, prayer, art, play, STEM, Hebrew, and something we call Bonim Banim (lit. building the children)—the social-emotional learning component that is the basis for building relationships and community.

We are inspired by the text in Pirkei Avot 1:14:

Im ein ani li mi li. uchsheani l’atzmi, ma ani. V’im lo achshav einmatai.

If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?
