Welcome to AISH: Shir Tikva Center for Youth Leadership!

AISH is Temple Shir Tikva’s post-B’nai Mitzvah program designed for teens in 7th-12th grades.  It meets once a week on Wednesday nights from 6-8 p.m.  As well, we offer a variety of programs that allows us to venture into Boston, experience The Yellow Dress theatrical show about Healthy Relationships, band together for Mitzvah Day, and celebrate Shabbat and Jewish holidays in our own special AISH way.

AISH infuses teen-identified passions, relationship building, and leadership development with meaningful Jewish learning and experiences. We imagine a world of teen engagement where teens connect relationally with one another and with role models around their deepest AISH – inner spark – to build community, develop leadership skills, uncover new passions and discover their voice.  In a world that is not often set up to hear the voice of youth, we have built a faculty who are enthusiastic and committed to helping teens develop their voice, who are passionate and skilled in a particular interest area, and who want to share their passion with your child and our community.

At AISH, teens get to hang out with friends; choose from elective courses designed just for their passions and interests; build a resume with leadership development opportunities; have opportunities to do local social justice Mitzvah work; meet teens from other local and regional synagogues; spend time in Rosh Hodesh or Shevet Achim groups with just girls or just guys; AND most importantly, lend their voice and input as we continue to build AISH together.

Every student in Grades 7-12 is a member of the Shir Tikva Center for Youth Leadership. AISH emulates membership in the temple, offering multiple entry points into study, activity and involvement. No matter what a teen is interested in — dinner with friends, social action activities, innovative learning experiences, creative program involvement, madrichim (student teaching), trips, retreats or youth group activities—there's a place for them in AISH.
