The Sisterhood at Temple Shir Tikva is a multigenerational sacred community of women whose collective presence, voice and action strengthen spiritual and social connections within our congregation and the greater Jewish community. Our yearly calendar is filled with an exciting and enlightening mix of events that contribute to the spiritual, educational, social and family life of the temple. All women in the congregation are automatically included as members of the Sisterhood and we welcome your participation, friendship and leadership.
The Sisterhood hosts several signature events throughout the year.
Our annual Women’s Kallah is an afternoon gathering at our synagogue for adult women of our community to nourish our bodies and souls and strengthen our relationships with one another. Our Kallah is a luxury of time to bond, laugh, sing, study, dance and discover new connections as we feast on new ideas, insights…and of course food! See photos of the Kallah.
Each year at our Pesach Program, Cantor Schachner leads us in sharing our stories and studying our traditions as we learn from and teach one another. We emerge empowered with new ideas and approaches to make our seders more engaging and meaningful to ourselves and our families and friends.
Another sure sign of spring is the Annual Sisterhood Dinner. This is a catered affair with special programming before and after dinner. Chocolate is traditional.
Events Throughout the Year
Sprinkled throughout the year are other opportunities to gather: Sunday Book and Brunch explores books with Jewish themes and of shared interest, cooking demonstrations feature the diverse tastes and talent in our community and the Sisterhood Schmooze offers us a chance to relax and simply enjoy each other’s company.
Please contact the Temple Shir Tikva Sisterhood for more information about any of our programs.
