Vats Nu Summer Schedule

Vats Nu goes on summer vacation after the June 15 issue.
There will be one issue mid- summer, July 27.
Weekly publication resumes September 7.

Annual Fund End of Year Appeal

One goal of the 2008 Annual Fund is to get more families contributing, regardless of amount. The Co- Chairs of the fund are happy to report that very good progress has been made toward this goal, as we have exceeded the number of families who gave last year. However, we still have a ways to go to get where we need to be. Please help us to whatever extent you can - particularly if you have not given to the fund previously - to secure the long term financial health of the Shir Tikva community and to support the programs we all enjoy and take pride in. Give online at www.shirtikva.org/donate and click on "Make a Donation" under the Annual Fund heading. The fiscal year closes June 30. Thank you for your support!

TIKKUN OLAM
  Family Table News

We're stocking up for the summer!

Please consider dropping off a shopping bag of pasta and/or tunafish when you come to the Temple.

We'll be making deliveries to the Family Table Pantry May 18, June 15, July 19, so it's never too late to help out and contribute! The families really appreciate and depend on receiving their packages, so help out if you can!

Volunteer Opportunities - Join the STEAM Team

Calling all STEAM Team volunteers! (And anyone else interested in making a difference in the lives of elders in our communities!) Can you spend an hour a week to food shop for a senior who can't get out? Could you occasionally drive an elderly neighbor to a local doctor's appointment? Or, are you willing to help someone with a task as simple as changing a light bulb, or fixing a leaky faucet? Believe it or not, these small mitzvahs can make a huge difference in the life of an elder.

If you are interested in receiving email updates that will list volunteer opportunities for elders in need in the towns of Wayland, Weston, Sudbury, Natick and Framingham, (as well as further information about how to get started), please email Robin Tapper rtapper@comcast.net or Amy Podolsky amypodol@aol.com, and we will add you to the list. **Please note: there is no obligation if you sign up, and you will not be contacted directly to volunteer for any specific need; these are simply emails listing volunteer opportunities and information about how to get involved.

"What we owe the old is reverence, but all they ask for is consideration, attention, not to be discarded and forgotten..." (Heschel)
