Rabbi Emeritus, Herman J. Blumberg

Herman J. Blumberg, Rabbi Emeritus. After a period of time as an active leader in the Jewish community, in 1986 Rabbi Blumberg returned to congregation life by assuming the Rabbinic leadership of Temple Shir Tikva.
During his 19-year tenure at Shir Tikva, the Synagogue’s membership, programs
and congregant participation grew significantly. It was under Rabbi Blumberg’s
direction that many new programs evolved, making Shir Tikva more than a place of
worship. It developed into an inviting and welcoming environment where Jews of
all ages could gather together in search of knowledge, spirituality and sense of
community. Under Rabbi Blumberg’s guidance, Shir Tikva became a Reform
congregation that embraces Jewish tradition and sacred teachings viewed through
modern and post-modern lenses. Rabbi Blumberg retired from his post at Temple Shir Tikva in July, 2005.
