| Mission
-- Temple Shir Tikva
- We believe that a strong commitment
to lifelong study, meaningful religious expression, and acts of loving kindness
and mutual respect provide us with the foundation for a community worthy of the
Divine presence.
- We embrace the individual Jewish journey of each member
and affirm our mutual responsibility to each other, future generations, the broader
community, and Klal Yisrael (the totality of the Jewish people).
- We
commit ourselves to tikkun olam (repairing the world) and encourage personal ethical
behavior in keeping with Jewish values.
- We dedicate ourselves to Talmud
Torah (study of our Jewish heritage), integrating formal and informal approaches
to learning. Clergy, educators, parents, children and individuals are partners
in learning. We focus on the why of learning, program excellence and the lifelong
study of sacred texts and their contemporary application. We support and respect
all levels of participation, and encourage individuals to further their development
as Jews at any point in life.
- In the spirit of Reform Judaism, we embrace
the essence of Jewish tradition, and seek the creation of thoughtful, innovative
and spiritually uplifting experiences in tefillah (prayer), ritual observance,
Jewish life cycle celebrations and study.
- As we grow, we are committed to maintaining a closely connected
community based on friendship and mutual support. We strive to provide
a warm and welcoming environment, where people of different backgrounds
feel comfortable, and shared values, goals and spiritual experiences
strengthen our bonds as a community.
